Citation building for UK businesses, built on the British directory stack.

Yell, 192.com and Thomson Local carry more weight for a British business than anything imported from a US list. We build the national stack first, then the trade bodies and regional directories that actually exist here — up to 300 listings, by hand.

Short answer

In the United Kingdom we build up to 300 local citations for one business. That ceiling is lower than the US figure because Britain has a strong national directory layer — Yell, 192.com, Thomson Local and the trade associations — but far fewer regional directories, so genuine quality runs out sooner. We build every legitimate UK listing available rather than padding the count, file each one manually with UK postcode and +44 phone formatting, and hand back the live URL for every listing.

Why United Kingdom tops out at 300.

A strong national layer (Yell, 192.com, Thomson Local and the trade bodies), but far fewer regional directories than the US, so quality runs out sooner.

The 300+ Elite tier is the largest build that makes sense in the UK. Anyone selling you 500 or 1,000 British citations is either counting international profile sites as local directories or filling the gap with directories no one reads.

If you order above that ceiling we tell you before taking payment and move you to the tier that fits, or split the build across your other locations. Ask about your build.

Which packages we can deliver in United Kingdom.

Same prices everywhere. What changes is which tiers have enough real UK directories behind them — so the ones we cannot fill here are marked, not quietly sold.

500+ builds are only deliverable in the United States, which has the directory depth to fill them. That tier is shown here so you can see the ceiling rather than discover it at checkout. If you trade in more than one country we can run a separate build per market.

What’s different about building citations in United Kingdom.

The process is the same everywhere — audit, benchmark, clean, submit, report. These are the UK specifics that decide whether a submission goes live or sits pending.

Yell, 192.com and Thomson Local come first

These three are the spine of UK local search and the ones British consumers still land on from a Google query. They also each have their own claim-and-verify flow, so they are done by hand at the start of the build rather than batched in with the long tail.

Trading name vs Companies House name

A common UK rejection: the business trades as one name and is registered at Companies House under another. Several British directories check. We agree one name with you up front — usually the trading name, matched to your Google Business Profile — and use it everywhere, noting the registered name only where a directory requires it.

Postcode and +44 formatting

UK postcodes carry a space before the final three characters, and a phone number written as 020 7946 0123 on one directory and +44 20 7946 0123 on another is the exact inconsistency that stops Google resolving two records into one business. We lock one format for both and file every submission against it.

Trade bodies count as citations

Gas Safe, FMB, NICEIC, RICS and the equivalent bodies in your trade publish member directories that are indexed, trusted and specific to the UK. For a British trades business these are worth more than a dozen generic listings, and they belong in the build.

Building somewhere else?

Each market has its own ceiling, its own directories and its own verification quirks.

Citation building in United Kingdom — FAQ.

The UK-specific questions. The general ones — what a citation is, how long results take — are answered on the main service page.

How many citations can you build for a UK business?

Up to 300. Britain has a strong national directory layer but far fewer regional directories than the United States, so quality runs out at around 300 legitimate listings for one business. We would rather stop there than pad the number with directories nobody visits. If you order a package above that ceiling we move you down and refund the difference before starting work.

Which UK directories do you actually submit to?

Yell, 192.com, Thomson Local and Scoot form the core, alongside FreeIndex, Yelp UK, Hotfrog UK, The Best Of, Cylex UK and the British business directories below them — plus the trade body directory for your industry where one exists. The full working list is published on our UK citation sites page, and you can hand us your own list instead.

Do you use US directories for UK businesses?

Only the ones that genuinely matter here — Google Business Profile, Apple, Bing, Facebook, Trustpilot, Foursquare. We don't fill a UK build with American directories that no British customer will ever see; that's how a 300-listing package gets sold as 500.

Can you fix a UK citation profile a previous agency got wrong?

Yes, and it's usually the first thing we do. The typical mess is a mix of old addresses from a previous premises, two different phone formats, and duplicate Yell or Thomson Local entries created rather than claimed. We audit, correct, claim and merge before building anything new.

Do you handle Google Business Profile for UK businesses too?

Citation building assumes your Google Business Profile is already claimed and correct, because every other listing is matched against it. If it isn't, we optimise it first — the citations are only worth building once there is one verified record for them to agree with.
